Context
UNCDF is seeking Youth UNV to be part of the GFCR. Working under the direct oversight of the GFCR Strategic Engagements and Partnerships Specialist and Deputy Director, the selected volunteer will contribute in enhancing the visibility and impact of the GFCR by providing strategic engagement support and promoting youth advocacy-related initiatives, according to the information outlined below.

Task description
- The Strategic Engagement & Operations Officer will play a pivotal role in enhancing the visibility and impact of the GFCR by providing strategic engagement, governance, and operations support.
- Key responsibilities include: Strategic Engagement & Communications Support:
- Support and maintain mapping and contact listings of key spokespeople and representatives of partners, donors and relevant key opinion leaders;
- Support coordination and execution of strategic sessions and engagements, including strategy development, collaboration opportunities, work plans, logistics/registration, briefs, procurements, meeting scheduling, and advocacy materials.
- Support coordination, tracking and execution of priority engagements and work plan items with donors and partners, including through tracking, drafting of correspondence and speaking points, scheduling of calls, development of presentations, production of meeting minutes, design of collaboration opportunities, etc.;
- Support creation, posting and dissemination of high-quality content, such as articles, social media posts, newsletters, and multimedia materials, to effectively convey the GFCR’s mission; Governance Management & Operations Support:
- Assist in the planning, execution, and follow-up activities of GFCR Executive Board meetings;
- Support in conducting thorough due diligence assessments on programmes to ensure compliance with GFCR standards and policies;
- Monitor and enforce safeguard policies to mitigate risks associated with programmes and operations;
- Provide logistical and administrative support to the Unit, including supporting arrangements for meetings, workshops, events, and missions;
- Support procurement and onboarding processes of the team. Furthermore, UN Volunteers are encouraged to integrate the UN Volunteers programme mandate within their assignment and promote voluntary action through engagement with communities in the course of their work. As such, UN Volunteers should dedicate a part of their working time to some of the following suggested activities:
- Strengthen their knowledge and understanding of the concept of volunteerism by reading relevant UNV and external publications and taking active part in UNV activities (for instance, in events that mark International Volunteer Day);
- Be acquainted with and build on traditional and/or local forms of volunteerism in the host country;
- Provide annual and end-of-assignment self-reports on UN Volunteer actions, results, and opportunities.
- Contribute articles/write-ups on field experiences and submit them for UNV publications, websites, newsletters, press releases, etc.
- Assist with the UNV Buddy Programme for newly-arrived UN Volunteers;
- Promote or advise local groups in the use of online volunteering, or encourage relevant local individuals and organizations to use the UNV Online Volunteering service whenever technically possible. Results/Expected Outputs:
- Age, Gender and Diversity (AGD) perspective is systematically applied, integrated and documented in all activities throughout the assignment
- A final statement of achievements towards volunteerism for peace and development during the assignment, such as reporting on the number of volunteers mobilized, activities participated in and capacities developed

Eligibility criteria
- Age: 18 – 80
- Nationality: Candidate must be a national of a country other than the country of assignment.
Required experience
- 1 year in communications, event planning, administrative and operational management, or related fields is highly desirable. Candidates with 1 year of experience in these areas will be considered.
- Excellent English skills (verbal and written), excellent drafting, formulation, reporting and editing skills;
- Knowledge of coral reef conservation, marine ecosystems, and sustainable blue economic development is highly desirable;
- Experience in organizing events and communicating event outcomes is an asset.
- Experience in resource mobilization activities or support is an asset.
- Excellent oral and written skills; excellent drafting, formulation, and reporting skills;
- Experience in the use of social media, creation of social media content and management of content calendars.
- Accuracy and professionalism in document production and editing;
- Excellent interpersonal skills; culturally and socially sensitive; ability to work inclusively collaboratively with a range of partners, including grassroots community members, youth organizations, and authorities at different levels; familiarity with tools and approaches of communications for development;
- Ability to work and adapt professionally and effectively in a challenging environment; ability to work effectively in a multicultural team of international and national personnel;
- Solid overall computer literacy, including proficiency in various MS Office applications (Excel, Word, etc.) and email/internet; familiarity with database management; and office technology equipment;
- Self-motivated, ability to work with minimum supervision; ability to work with tight deadlines;
- Sound security awareness;
- Have affinity with or interest in sustainable finance, biodiversity conservation, communications, advocacy, sustainable development, and/or volunteerism as a mechanism for durable development, and the UN System.

Required Education
- Bachelor degree or equivalent in biology, social sciences, journalism, public relations, business/public administration, human resources, or related field.
Living conditions and remarks
- Please note that the amounts can vary according to fluctuations of the monthly post adjustment.
- Monthly Living Allowance (Per month): USD 2726.
- 14 Entry lump sum (one-time payment): USD 4000

Leave entitlements
- Annual leave: 2.5 days accrued per calendar month
- Certified sick leave: UN Volunteers are entitled to up to 30 days of certified sick leave based on a 12-month cycle.
- This amount is reset every 12-month cycle.
- Uncertified sick leave: 7 days for 12 months and 4 days for shorter assignments
- Learning leave: 10 working days per consecutive 12 months (shorter assignments are prorated)
- Maternity Leave: 16 weeks Paternity Leave: 10 days
