Duties and Responsibilities
- The UN Resident Coordinator (RC) leads the UN Country Team in China, including all entities present in China.
- The purpose of the Resident Coordinator System is to bring together different UN agencies to improve efficiency and effectiveness of operational activities at the country level, helping the UN to be a more relevant and reliable partner for governments, notable by establishing and strengthening these partnerships for the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
- The UN Resident Coordinator Office supports the role and functions of the RC and the UN Country Team (UNCT).
- The RCO provides interagency coordination support to the UNCT and its various interagency working mechanisms, including results and theme groups.
- RCO China is looking for a motivated Executive Support intern to join the RCO China office with a six-month duration.
- The internship is UNPAID and full-time. Interns work five days per week (35 hours) under the supervision of a staff member in the division or office to which they are assigned.
- Under the overall guidance of the Head of RCO and Executive Associate, the intern will be responsible for providing support to the Executive Office of the RCO.
- Specifically, he/she will perform the following duties:
- Provide administrative support to the Executive Office
- Handle documents and archives according to office standards
- IT and basic logistic support to RC’s meetings
- Provide simple translation and interpretation services when necessary
- Complete other ad hoc tasks as requested by the supervisor

Duties and Responsibilities
Daily responsibilities will depend on the individual’s background as well as the internship period. Duties may include, but are not limited to: – cataloguing books, serials and multimedia materials in the Library’s integrated library system (ILS) and institutional repository; -improving the metadata and records in the digital repository and AV asset library to increase exposure to ESCAP research and multi-media content; – assisting in the Library’s digitization efforts; – assisting in collection management activities (shelving, weeding, etc.); – assisting in reference and circulation services; – designing and publishing publicity and training materials on the Library’s e-resources, services and ESCAP publications, including online brochures, streaming video presentations, and curated email updates; – taking part in the Library’s information management, knowledge management, and digital asset management tasks and initiatives; and – performing other related work, as required.

The assignment may be offered for an initial period of three (3) months, with the possibility of extension up to a total combined period of six (6) months, upon further approval by the supervisor, and an initial commencement date ranging/starting from November 2024 to January 2025. This internship is an UNPAID and full-time engagement that provides a framework through which students from diverse academic backgrounds gain exposure to the work of the United Nations by way of their service within Secretariat entities.
